Full-Time Die Maker – First/Second Shifts
Job Description
A manufacturing company is seeking Die Makers to fill an opening at both their Cleveland and Avon Ohio locations. These are first and second shift positions.
Job Duties:
- Study blueprints of product, die, prototype of products, and die models
- Visualize structure and function of die and plans operations, apply knowledge of shop mathematics, machining, and assembly method, properties of sheet metal under pressure, and metal-forming presses
- Measure, mark, and scribe tools and stock for machining
- Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathe, milling machine, and grinder to machine parts to specifications and verify correctness of machined parts to specifications
- Lift machined parts manually or use hoist and position them on worktable for assembly
- Shape, smooth, and fit flat and contoured surfaces of die members and parts, using hand tools such as stones, files, and powered grinders
- Verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment of members and parts in die, using dial indicators, gage blocks, thickness gages, and micrometers
- Dowel and bolt parts together, using hammers and wrenches
- May operate power press, perform final adjustments, refinement operations on die in press, inspect piece part product, and complete tryout of die for Initial Sample Inspection Report
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must have experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Computer and mechanical drafting, tooling design, GD&T, ISO 9000, and engineering problem solving skills are desired
- Must have the ability to set up and operate lathe, milling machine, and grinder to machine parts to specifications
- Must be able to operate ID-OD Grinding Machine to close tolerances with knowledge of tool room equipment
- The ability to exercise judgment to manufacture components and dies in timely, efficient manner, using available, real manufacturing capabilities
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Must have geometry, algebra, and trigonometry skills
- Must be able to use dial indicators, gage blocks, thickness gages, and micrometers
- Must be safety-conscious and detail-oriented
