Full-Time Toddler Lead and Assistant Teacher – 2 Needed

Job Description

A local company is seeking a Lead Teacher, as well as, an Assistant Teacher to perform services and duties necessary to provide total care for toddlers 18 months through 36 months.  In addition, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the classroom, possess the ability to enhance children’s development, and provide a safe place for toddlers to engage in activities.  You will work first shift.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the company
  • Greet children and families at the door at arrive and departure times
  • Ensure the classroom is setup with defined learning areas and provide a safe, healthy classroom environment
  • Operate in accordance with ODJFS Licensing Rules, Set Up to Quality Regulations, and state or local regulations
  • Establish and follow a consistent daily routine, supervise children at all times, and maintain a safe classroom environment
  • Prepare daily activity sheets, assist the teacher to conduct parent-teacher conference, and coordinate transitioning toddlers
  • Ensure that children with disabilities are referred to the appropriate agency and sit, eat with, and socialize with the children throughout the day
  • Report and record any signs of illness or injury, write up incident report, submit within 24 hours, and report suspected child abuse cases to Director immediately 
  • Maintain cleanliness of classroom and site at all times and attend trainings and meetings as instructed
  • Perform other duties as required

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have a combination of education and experience represented by a Child Development Associate with Infant/Toddler endorsement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, or a Bachelor or advanced degree including coursework equivalent to a major related to early childhood education
  • One to 3 years experience working in a preschool classroom and previous experience in human services setting or Community Action program is preferred
  • Must have a working knowledge of ODJFS Licensing Rules and current Certification in First Aid or CPR or attend training during first six months of employment
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and educational web-based programs
  • Must be able to effectively and productively work with people of very diverse economic, cultural, and administrative backgrounds
  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills 
  • Must be able to actively interact with preschool children, lift up to 40 pounds, and be comfortable sitting, standing, walking, bending, and squatting during your shift

Only candidates that can pass a background and fingerprint check, TB Test, and drug screen will be considered.

$14.50 to $17/hr
